Hey everyone,
I had such an eventful week, let me tell you! As I stated in my last post my best friend, Nessa, came to town for the week, to visit and to attend a wedding that she was in. It was a great time, she ended up staying with me Tuesday to Friday. The first night Ness was here, her, my other best friend (her sister, Jodi), my girlfriend Melissa and I were all just relaxing and bull shitting. Besides for the silliness of my two cats, they had many jokes on me through out the night. “Say ‘Factious’ Cara,” and my response would be “Fa-jesus,” they all would burst out laughing. If there is one thing that all three of these ladies love to do, it is to gang up on me and give me a hard time (because I am usually the asshole). But that’s okay because Ness was here for a short period of time that I’ll take it all in stride. After the first night of laughs and stabs at me, Jodi ended up going home and we all rested well for what was going to happen the next day.
My mom has always loved Nessa, ALWAYS. She will say and I quote “That is one friend that you will keep for the rest of your life.” I know she is right, it just sucks that she lives across the country for the past three years. I get it though, I understand why she lives out there. Besides it’s better for me, I can visit California whenever I want (of course, it will be planned).
Ness and I were going to meet with my mom Wednesday morning right after Melissa left for work. About 15 minutes after Melissa left, she announced that she was coming home to par-take in our activities for the day. Ness and I were both THRILLED, that was the beginning of our adventure. My mom was waiting for us at this french bistro called Bar Frittes. We all had got a drink at the bar before we decided to move to a table to order some food. My mom is a character within herself, this is why Melissa and Ness love her so much. She is a bit crazy but with a great heart. We all ordered sandwiches and talked about everything while waiting for our food. Mom was really interested in what was going on with Ness, but always had that A.D.D. moment to get more water or that awesome raisin walnut bread that they have, for our table. It’s cool though, we all kept up with her, at least they understand her craziness. After lunch Mom offered to show us my step-dad’s office. His office had his own shower for god-sakes, tell me you wouldn’t want to visit that! Once we got settled at his office my mom started to cry, she was so happy to spend the day with us. It’s great to know that the two most important women in my life also mean the world to my mother. That is what really made my day.
We ended up stopping on the way home so that Ness could visit her brother for a little bit. On the way home from that I decided to take Ocean Parkway to avoid traffic and to have beautiful ocean scenery on the ride home.
Later that night we ate some dinner and headed out to a karaoke bar to see a couple of old friends and Ness’s other brother (she has quite a large family). This was the beginning of us drinking three nights in a row. I haven’t done that in quite a long time. I had a feeling in the beginning of it that I was going to regret it when the three day run ended. The first night wasn’t so bad, I didn’t get overly wasted. I sang some songs that the DJ Paulie had, “Cough Syrup” by Young the Giant and “Adam’s Song” by Blink 182, this made me incredibly happy. Ness is a way better singer and I was stoked that she took my request and decided to sing “Alone” by Heart. Great song, sounds even better when she sings it. We all got home around 2 AM where we decided to have some munchies and watch a little TV before we all decided to retire to bed.
Thursday, I dropped off Ness at her other sister’s house to visit, while I went to my internship. I just wanted my day to fly so I could go play. I ended up picking her up so that I could drop her off for her rehearsal dinner for the wedding. Around 10 PM, Melissa and I met up at the bar that Ness and I considered home, Grizzley’s. It is the bar where we first met a lot of people in our lives, including each other. It was a night full of old friends, lots of drinks, and a mix of bad and good singers. For a bar we have been going to for almost a decade, do you blame us when I say it’s home? Ness’ boyfriend arrived in the area that night, but I wasn’t going to meet him until the following afternoon. His friends picked him up from the airport and he ended up staying with them for the night.
Friday, Melissa decided to not join us for our third night out. It was totally justifiable, she had work early the next day. But because of a little confusion, Ness had her boyfriend and his friends meet up at one bar with the same name as the bar that I intended for all of us to go to. I went to the bar that I intended on going to in the first place to hang out with my bartender friend of 9 years, Julia. It was slow start but good, It worked itself out where everyone ended up going to the bar I initially stated where we all should meet up. I got to meet and talk with Ness’s boyfriend, Ryan, and I got to know him a little better. I very much approve of him, He is a great guy, and a great fit for her. Makes me happy to see her so happy with him.
The weekend came and went, she ended up staying with Ryan’s parents for the rest of the time as well as attended her friends wedding. On her last day in New York, Monday in the evening she came back to stay with me so I could drive her and Ryan to the airport early Tuesday morning. It was a great night. Jodi came over and the four of us were having a ball watching America’s Got Talent. Of course, they had multiple opportunities to make fun of me. Bring it on, just don’t be too upset when I retaliate as an asshole (haha). The night ended too quick and then morning happened. I got up early to drive her and Ryan to the airport and made it there in record time. It all ended too soon once I pulled up to drop them off. I couldn’t believe that a week went by THAT fast, I’m sure she couldn’t believe it either. We exchanged our farewell and hugs, then I watched them go through those doors, which would lead to their flight home. I instantly became sad, but I knew I will see them again soon.
Ness is the kind of friend that you don’t consider a friend, you consider her family and she is definitely my family. She will always be there, always be trustworthy, always will have love for me like I do for her. I know one day I will finish my screenplay about our friendship and then maybe the rest of the world will understand why this girl is one of the important ones in my life.
I dedicate this post to my Bffl Facepunch Meow Meow, Nessa.
I will post again within the next few days. Thanks for reading.
